In New Zealand I'm really excited that I will (attempt) to cycle up the World's steepest street.
I intend on carrying all my gear to try to make The Guinness Book Of Records two ways, for carrying the most weight up Baldwin Street Hill on a bike. I will be also attempting to break the Guinness record fastest ascent by bike. I feel confident as I already raced up Filbert Street the steepest in San Francisco 31% . Yes this is what cyclists do like what climbers do surfers do etc go for the biggest steepest etc. Baldwin Street, in Dunedin, New Zealand is the world's steepest residential street, according to the Guinness. Its so steep they had to replace the asphalt with concrete because on hot days the asphalt melted down the hill It is 350 meters or 1,150 ft long a slope of 1:5. That's (19° or 35%). That is, for every 2.86 metres travelled horizontally, the elevation changes by 1 metre.
