I found a wallet last week, cycling Sunday along Blenheim, it was inside a lost pannier. I took the wallet with credit cards money etc and left the pannier with a note and my number in case she came back looking for it. The girl excitedly called me an hour later as she found the pannier and note. I rode to her house and personally gave her the wallet back. She hugged me so hard my lungs deflated. Then gave me a few of her organic garden veggies she grew and a jar of her homemade bee honey. I was so happy for her. She was a Kitsilano girl grown up from then I could just tell.
Yesterday on Broadway on my way cycling to a Drs. appointment, I gave a vagrant type guy sitting on the sidewalk panhandling my freshly bought hash browns and bagel. He grunted and just grabbed them and chowed down didnt even look up at me. Oh well, I felt sorry for him. Made me sad rather than happy (like returning the wallet did). Kind of glad he didnt give me a hug anyways. But I think I'll stick to finding wallets
