Tangiers to Alexandria

1/26/2018

In 2014 I started my jouney across Europe and my way around the world. At that time I followed a trail called the Camino de Santiago 800 km across Portugal and Spain to France. People from all over the world travel this centuries old sacred route to the Santiago de Compastella church.  One day I will return to cycle Africa....likely Tangiers to Alexandria .
I will miss the free wine fountain on the Camino in Estella Spain that dispenses free wine or water. Some people sleep here ! A sign reads: You will be pleased to find this fountain provides the thirsty pilgrims with red wine and water. If you want to reach Santiago “full of strength and vitality, have a drink of this great wine and make a toast to happiness”

                   My Journey

I am a fire captain and cancer survivor.
I have now cycled around  the earth  by bicycle for cancer charity, but my journey is not over. I followed the rules of Guinness global 0circumnavigation. Same bike, same direction, cross two antipodal points, the equator and cover at least 29,000 km.  My final legs were crossing Australia north to south and east to west across the deserts bringing the total countries crossed to fifteen and a distance of 29,000 km over 10 years. The journey now continues to the most desolate and highest points of the earth.  email:
