Since Folk Fest is cancelled again, and Red Cross not going anywhere, my new one day a week volunteer job. Meals on two wheels. No close contact. Ride like the wind and never deliver a cold meal, or its on me! You leave a needy person or senior a meal at their door. Get exercise and help a good cause at the same time. My two favourite things. Makes one feel really good!

Ironman training swims will open for the training group again in less than 6 weeks in the best pool in Canada .
My world steepest street record in New Zealands Baldwin street stands. After another cyclists attempted the 35% grade, to beat my 3 minutes 49 seconds last week was unsuccessful. It is a brutal hill.
Seeing this cherry blossom in Kitsilano, is making my bike very excited about spring and the view from her new home
Our four man fire crew stood outside the dingy old apartment door hearing screams for help me please help....It was over 25 years ago we had been called to an assault and had a wait for police order in place. The crusty old Captain decided we wont stand here and listen to that girl so ordered me the rookie to kick the door in. It was a direct order so against my better judgement I gave the old apartment door such a boot it mostly came right off the hinges.
There stood a shirtless man shaking with a gun to her head. He looked into my eyes... slowly lifted the shaking gun and pointed it at my face .I had no training in what to do in a hostage situation so I just froze closed my eyes and waited to die. I could hear my heart pounding, I could not breathe, I and hoped it would be over quickly. BANG ... he shot himself in the head. Shaking and in shock we still had to work on him until the man that just about killed me was declared dead. In those days there was no debriefing or thanks for saving her, only discipline for not waiting for back up. You can watch it on TV or in a movie theatre but you can never imagine the hopeless feeling and what it does to your soul. You can never wash it off. Your first responders are in situations like this all the time. Thank them for their service! That was the first of my nine lives you will see in The Jaws of Life. Crossing Australia, I came across some of the deadliest... but also some of the most beautiful things nature produces. Like this green birdflower plant inland Australia. The leaves look exactly like, you guessed it, green birds. The bees pollinate them causing a birds and bees combo. In a sometimes dangerous country or currently dark world try to reflect on the beautiful things around.
I was quite honored and more so surprised that UPS delivered me the coveted Firefighters golden axe today.
My childhood dream and career is now fulfilled. They planted a cedar tree for me in my favourite park in Vancouver today while I am still alive! I always hoped someone would do that...but after I died. This tree that could last 800 or more years, thats a bit more than me. They said it's for completing my inspirational journey and charity funds given to the cancer agency because of it. I am very excited and will have a proper party here (beer and food provided free) post covid. I will post date and location next year. Thank you all for following my journey ....I'm not finished, or dead....yet
November 29 2016 will always be a special day for me as its the day I set the world record in New Zealand, up the worlds steepest street. It still holds today after several attempts to break in at 3m:49s:15. Also a full moon coming up Nov. 29. November's full Moon is most often called the “Beaver Moon” since it's in November that beaver traps were set in North America.
