Bullies Beware

When I was a small boy my grade one class went to this old Fire Station Five. A firefighter slid down pole and all the kids were impressed and amazed. We got to try the giant rubber boots on and spray a hose. I told myself I want to do that job when I grow up! Maybe even the bullies wouldn't harass and beat me up any more because of my funny name and my heritage. Well 20 years later I got that job competing against hundreds of other men. Amazingly, this very station was my very first posting. I happily slid down that brass pole for the visiting kids many times. I also told them the story. Maybe some were being bullied like I was, maybe some were bullies. I always wonder how many kids followed my dream. I looked up most of the bullies in my life, face to face, when I was older. They all were sorry and all regretted ever being a bully. But they had to live with those memories and actions. Even as an adult , some pretending to be friends, took advantage of my offered help, and sadly tried turning it against me. But Karma will deal with them, as the universe knows the truth!   We eventually moved to the new station five where I spent time as a Captain before being transferred between other stations. As an officer, I never tolerated bullying, ever!
The Moral of this story: Always try to be a role model for children, they listen carefully and may follow the very dreams you create for them.

                   My Journey

I am a fire captain and cancer survivor.
I have now cycled around  the earth  by bicycle for cancer charity, but my journey is not over. I followed the rules of Guinness global 0circumnavigation. Same bike, same direction, cross two antipodal points, the equator and cover at least 29,000 km.  My final legs were crossing Australia north to south and east to west across the deserts bringing the total countries crossed to fifteen and a distance of 29,000 km over 10 years. The journey now continues to the most desolate and highest points of the earth.  email:
