Headed up to the Shire tonight in Hobbiton. I was skeptical but I must say I was amazed. The story is Peter Jackson and the locations crew are flying over farmlands looking for a place to film the Shire town for Lord of the Rings they see this farm and land the chopper. Mr Alexander owns the farm. He is watching rugby on TV and asks them to wait till the games over. So they do. Then they tour the farm and take the location making Mr Alexander rich cause its $80 per person to see it now. Just amazing realistic Hobbit town and it has a real magical feel due to the terrain and huge sweeping pines. Complete with Hobbitts mini-ginchies hanging to dry, smoke coming out of the chimneys, and my favorite part a free beer in the original Green Dragon Pub. I asked the waitress if the hobbits get into fights in the bar she says yes but they are easy to toss out. Song of the day it was a tough climb to get here on the bike played this 3 times https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=co6WMzDOh1o

                   My Journey

I am a fire captain and cancer survivor.
I have now cycled around  the earth  by bicycle for cancer charity, but my journey is not over. I followed the rules of Guinness global 0circumnavigation. Same bike, same direction, cross two antipodal points, the equator and cover at least 29,000 km.  My final legs were crossing Australia north to south and east to west across the deserts bringing the total countries crossed to fifteen and a distance of 29,000 km over 10 years. The journey now continues to the most desolate and highest points of the earth.  email:
