Taking self pictures in deserts are harder than finding water. Extreme heat in the day cold at night. The desert comes alive at night with distant howling sounds of coyotes ... but more stars than I have ever seen. In Arizona I crossed the Sonoran Desert. After crossing hundreds of miles of flat scorching hot desert I came to this huge monolith I had to climb. You can see the road way up there! This was the continental divide near the Arizona New Mexico state line. It continues climbing into the mountains with elevations up to 6,500 ft. and crosses the Continental Divide in southern New Mexico. After crossing the Divide, it descends southeastward toward El Paso, Texas. It was a tough climb but it went from dry hot sand deserts to green hills streams and WATER. All water from here that ran west, went to the Pacific and East to the Atlantic my destination My bike, she was really tired and just wanted to lean on the sign and rest.
