A Young Boys Dream

When I was a small boy my grade one class went to this old Fire Station 5 at Willingdon and Hastings. A firefighter slid down pole and all the kids were amazed. We got to try the giant rubber boots on and spray a hose. I told myself I want to do that job when I grow up!. Well 20 years later I got the job and this station was my very first posting. I always loved sliding down the pole for the kids. And many times and told them the story. I always wonder how many Burnaby kids followed my dream .We eventually moved to the new Station 5 at Carleton and Hastings where I spent some time as a Captain.
Always try to be a role model for children, they may follow the dreams that you create for them.

                   My Journey

I am a fire captain and cancer survivor.
I have now cycled around  the earth  by bicycle for cancer charity, but my journey is not over. I followed the rules of Guinness global 0circumnavigation. Same bike, same direction, cross two antipodal points, the equator and cover at least 29,000 km.  My final legs were crossing Australia north to south and east to west across the deserts bringing the total countries crossed to fifteen and a distance of 29,000 km over 10 years. The journey now continues to the most desolate and highest points of the earth.  email:
